We stayed here for one night in June. I really like this place despite there being no private parking ( we parked a couple of blocks away in a municipal parking lot) and the elevator was very small and we still had to go up a flight a stairs after getting off of the elevator) I'm not complaining, I know it's an old building. I would actually stay here again, but I'm just warning people Incase they aren't able to maneuver luggage upstairs.  We didn't have a change to eat at the restaurant because we weren't in town for long. Our room was nice and I would stay here again if I was ever in the area.

This is more of a review of the hotel than the pub which is okay. This is a nicely located hotel in the middle of Salisbury. Though the rooms are not huge, they are comfortable and well-kept. It is a good location for tourists being walking distance to Salisbury Cathedral which holds one of the original copies of the Magna Carta. Breakfast in the attached pub is good. Parking is in the central Salisbury car park located about 5 minutes away.

Good pub grub!  Fast service, friendly. charming old building on the outside, comfortable and modern on the inside.  This was a welcome lunch stop after seeing Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral on a sunny summer day, and a nice place for restorative drink and sustenance.  Also, an ideal spot to try some traditional pub dishes - one of my daughters tried the bangers and mash; another had the fish and chips (not all of us went with pub grub - my eldest daughter had a good ole American cheeseburger while my wife had some new-agey quinoa salad and stuff.
Well, one does try at least).  The bangers and mash was generous with plenty of gravy, tasty and juicy sausages; the fish and chips comprised of a nice piece of haddock, crisply fried, and surprisingly good mushy peas which tasted much better than it sounded.

Oh, and the drinks were good too!

Great location; short walk from the train station; nice pub on the 1st floor; good room with a king bed; lovely town.

We stopped at The King's Head Inn for dinner. This was our first visit to a pub, and we sat there for a really long time with no one coming to take our order. I finally prodded my husband enough for him to go up to the bar and see if we were supposed to order there. As soon as he left the table, I found the small print on the menu that stated: "Please note your table number and place your order at the bar." We had the Vegetarian Wellington and some Sticky Toffee Pudding. They were out of gravy, so they substituted nacho cheese sauce with the wellington, which may not have been the best accompaniment.
